Cleverly designed house extension
Clever house extension & internal renovation in Scotstoun conservation area
The Challenge
The clients had a house with an awkward layout. She wanted us to remove internal walls to create a new modern open plan kitchen diner with living and family space.
It was important for the new space to connect to the garden with sliding bifold doors and a skylight for additional light into internal rooms. The clients also asked us to create a new shower room and utility room with easy ground floor access.
The Solution
The project involved removing part of the rear elevation to allow a connection between the existing and the new. Steel beams were installed and a new full width extension was formed.
The extension includes a beautiful new kitchen and utility room with a gorgeous dining space. This leads to a cosy snug complete with wood burning stove.
The accessible shower room is just off the hallway and with some clever reconfiguration this doesn't detract from the size of each room.
The Results
The new space is bright and airy with plenty of light flooding in. It is also cosy in winter with the new wood burning stove.
The space flows seamlessly from one area to the next with high quality finish throughout.
The external finishes use zinc and cedar cladding and the large bifold doors link the outside to the inside.
